A Veteran’s Day Dinner will be held at
Liberty Bible Church on Veteran’s Day,
Nov. 11, at 6 p.m. The speaker this year
is Geoff Whitaker, a Navy SEAL who
currently serves as an Army Chaplain.
The dinner is free to all veterans
plus one guest. Reservations for the
dinner may be made by contacting
Pastor Tim Chally at 309.635.1541.

Roanoke

The annual Veterans Day assembly
at Roanoke-Benson High School will
be held on Friday, Nov. 10, at 11 a.m.,
in the high school gym. The public is
invited, and veterans will be considered
special guests. The program will include
a guest speaker, a musical salute to
veterans, a 21-gun salute and lunch for
veterans following the ceremony.

Roanoke

The Senior Fellowship annual luncheon program
honoring those who have served in America’s
Armed Forces will be held at the Roanoke
Methodist Fellowship Hall on Wednesday, Nov.
15. Lunch (no charge) will begin at noon followed
by a 45-minute program.
The guest speaker will be Carol Castellon, a
retired math teacher and member of Daughters
of the American Revolution (DAR). She lives in
Savoy with her husband Mike. Castellon will set
up over 50 historic flags from the Revolutionary
War era up to today and will share their unique
histories. Each flag in her collection is 7 feet tall.

Veterans Day will be celebrated at
the Woodford County Courthouse on
Saturday, Nov. 11, at 9 a.m. on the
courthouse lawn. Judge Chuck Feeney
will be the speaker, and the Metamora
High School Choir will sing. The public
is invited.
