I enjoyed your photo of the last time elephants performed at the Ringling Bros. and Barnum and Bailey Circus.
Shortly, this circus itself will cease to exist. As someone who saw several circus' as a young boy, I think this is very sad.
For the reader who would like to see the circus as I knew it in my youth, I would say watch the 1952 movie "The Greatest Show on Earth". It was produced and directed by Cecil B. DeMille.
It is, for me, great fun. The movie critics were very unkind to it, but the public loved it. It made a lot of money for its day and gave the movie-going public a big treat.
I saw it at the Lincoln Theater in downtown Decatur, which made it even more enjoyable. Who knows, maybe some day it will be shown there again. I sure hope so.
