Del's Popcorn is selling caramel apples during the weekend of Decatur Celebration.

Del's Popcorn will be selling caramel apples during the Celebration weekend to get the public ready for fall. Choices include single dip with nuts or double-dipped at a cost of $3 each. The apples will return to the public on Sept. 1.

They crew will be selling the sweet fall treats throughout the festival. The predicted cool weather prompted Del's Popcorn owner Kemper Willcutt II to whip up a batch of the apples.

“If it was 90 degrees, I wouldn't do it,” he said. “About 10 days out it looked like it was going to be cool, so I brought the product in.”

It takes about three hours to make a batch of 200 apples. Two batches were made for Friday night's crowd. “We will take it from there,” he said.

Del's staff make the caramel apples fresh every day. “They don't sit overnight,” Willcutt said.
