Nursing moms can have privacy and relief from the heat at St. Paul's Lutheran Church's nursing mothers station.

In front of Busey Bank and adjacent to the Christian Music Stage, the Family Oasis area includes shade, fans and a converted portable toilet that is air-conditioned, where nursing mothers can go to take care of their babies in private, if they prefer.

“Last year, we just had the nursing mothers station and the diaper-changing station,” said Andrea Gerhard, director of communications for St. Paul's. “We figured out that was much needed, and it needed to be a bit bigger, so we tried to expand it with a little more seating and a little more cooling and shade.”

Lawn furniture and cushions provide places to rest, and everyone is welcome, from parents with tired toddlers to seniors who want to take it easy for a while.

“It's a place where you can sit. We want to be a place where you can come and take a break," Gerhard said.
