DECATUR -- Terry C. Brown 68, of Decatur, IL peacefully went to be with Jesus, at 6:55 p.m., Sunday, September 10, 2017, in St. John’s Hospital, Springfield, IL surrounded by family and more love than anyone can hope for.
A service to celebrate Terry’s life will be held at 3:00 p.m., Thursday, September 14, 2017, at Life Builders Church, Decatur, IL. The family will receive friends for visitation on Wednesday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home, Mt. Terry was born August 6, 1949, in Decatur, IL the son of Clyde and Farice (Woodcock) Brown. He married Brenda F. Owens on July 29, 1989. Terry served his country in the US Air Force. He began his work career with AE Staley. He later worked for ADM, Dunn Company, and retired from Lovington Township. He was an avid singer having preformed with Barbershop Quartets, and the Gospel Messengers. He had spent fifteen years singing in New Creations and during the last ten years with Kid Kaddilac. He had a passion for refinishing furniture. Terry loved sports and had participated in many softball leagues and playing basketball in many Gus Macker tournaments. He also was a talented landscaper and enjoyed working in his yard.
Surviving are his wife: Brenda of Decatur; children: Justin Brown of Decatur, Sid Smallwood (Amanda) of Decatur, Sarah Vaughn (Tyler) of Murfreesboro, TN, Jason Bruns (Chelsea) of Oreana and Laura Bruns of Oreana; sister: Debbie Damery (Randy) of Magnolia, TX; grandchildren: Makenzie, Liberty, Laila, Banning, Olivia, and Sebastian.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
