SULLIVAN -- Delores Maxine Foster passed away at 3:30 am on Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at the Sullivan Health Care Center, with her family by her side.
Delores was born in Decatur, IL on February 27, 1931. She grew up in Decatur, IL. She married James H. Foster on August 27, 1948, they were married until his death on June 27, 2001.
She is survived by sons: James H. Foster Jr. Bettendorf, IA. And Joseph W. Foster, Decatur IL; daughter: Valerie K. Meadows, Decatur IL., grandchildren, Dawn Cassity, Jodi Silotto (Brian), Joseph A. Foster (Jessica), Shaun Meadows, and Katie Meadows; great-grandchildren, Mason Cassity, Emily Cassity, Ava Meadows, Landon Foster, Colin Foster, and Bryson Foster; brother: Joseph Qualls, Stonington IL.
Delores was very strong, and was always working. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who loved to cook for her family and make them feel special. Delores and Jim loved dancing to the Big Band music and their love and respect for each other was always present.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Jimmy, parents: Albert Ambrose and Bessie Mae Belle (Jackson) Qualls; sisters: Eathel Norman; and Grace Stewart: brothers: James Qualls and Charles Qualls.
The family would like to thank the Sullivan Health Care Center for their care of Delores. As a young girl, her close friends called her “Dee” and the staff at Sullivan came to know her as Dee also.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, November 13, 2017, in Mt. Gilead Cemetery, Decatur. The family will receive friends for visitation on Sunday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home, Mt. Zion.
