TAYLORVILLE -- Evelyn M. Hornbuckle, 100, of Marion, Iowa, formerly of Taylorville, died 3:30 p.m. Tuesday (Jan. 7, 2014). in Summit Pointe Home, Marion, Iowa. 

Services will be noon Saturday in Sutton Memorial Home, Taylorville, with Pastor Becky Lembke officiating. Visitation will be two hours before services. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Taylorville. Send condolences: www.sutton.memorialhome.com.

Evelyn was born July 6, 1913, the daughter of Robert and Judith Stanbery. She was a farmer’s wife. She worked side-by-side with her husband in the fields. She raised 5,000 turkeys and 30 cows. In Evelyn's lifetime, she grew up using horse and buggy, Model T and Model A automobiles. She witnessed the birth of flight and developments which included indoor plumbing, mechanized agriculture, television and much, much more! She married Henry R. Hornbuckle on Aug. 2, 1933. He preceded her in death July 20, 2001.

Surviving are her son, Jerry Hornbuckle of Morrisonville; daughter, Joyce (Larry) Shiley of Marion, Iowa; grandchildren, Cindy Moore of Morrisonville; Rick (Vickie) Hornbuckle of St. Louis, Mo.; Tim (Lisa) Shiley of Royal, Iowa; Shawn (Debra) Shiley of Marion, Iowa; six great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Eula; and brother Clark.
