DECATUR -- Matthew Raymond Washburn March, 55, of Decatur, passed away Monday, September 11, 2017 in Decatur Memorial Hospital surrounded by his family.
Matt was born August 6, 1962 in Decatur, Illinois, the son of Richard Edward and Lulabelle (Rozzell) March. He worked as a fork lift operator at Parke and Sons Warehouses. Matt married Karen Spears June 21, 1997.
Matt enjoyed life, fishing, and camping. He did not know a stranger and all were equal to him. Matt loved his families; his biological family, his in-law family, his Minnesota family, and his family of friends. Most of all Matt loved his immediate family his wife Karen, his girls Beth, Malia, and Ailye, and son-in-law Erik. Not one drop of his blood ran through their veins but they were his. Matt’s ability to unconditionally love should be an inspiration and example for us to follow.
Matt leaves behind his wife Karen, daughter Elizabeth Edwards and husband Erik, granddaughters Malia and Ailye Edwards, sister Brenda Wood and husband Keith, brothers Brett March and wife Kelli and Christopher March, father-in-law Bob Spears, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, beloved dog Cali, and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Matt was preceded in death by his parents, mother-in-law Donna Lou, and brother Scott Edward March.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Pastor Tim and Sandra Revis.
The family will be hosting a service to celebrate Matt’s life at 3:00 PM Thursday, September 14, 2017 in the First Christian Church, 3350 N MacArthur Rd, Decatur. The family will greet friends for one hour prior to the service and requests casual attire.
