TUSCOLA -- Betty L. Pflum, 88, of rural Tuscola, IL, passed away at 3:39 p.m., Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at her residence.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, January 4, 2018 at Forty Martyrs Catholic Church, 201 East Van Allen Street, Tuscola, IL with Father Angel Sierra as celebrant. Burial will follow in the Tuscola Township Cemetery, Tuscola, IL
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at the Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, 705 South Main Street, Tuscola, IL with a Prayer Service following at 7 p.m.
Betty was born on July 27, 1929 in rural Douglas County, Illinois, the daughter of James and Emily Peddycoart Garrett. She married Harold Joseph Pflum on December 28, 1946. He preceded her in death on June 9, 2004.
Survivors include her many nieces and nephews, even as far down the family tree as great-great-great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters: Thelma Beightel, Rachel Selle, Leona Benner and Florence Shutt.
Betty and her husband farmed together for many years. She was a member of the Forty Martyrs Catholic Church and the Douglas County Farm Bureau. Betty and Harold loved to go fishing in Canada and enjoyed their winters at Lake Okeechobee, FL. Betty enjoyed spending time visiting with family and friends and was always a wealth of information regarding family history.
