BEMENT -- Stephen Russell Postlewait, 67, of Bement, IL., passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on Saturday, November 11, 2017, after a six-year battle with Multiple System Atrophy.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., on Wednesday, November 15, 2017, at the Bement United Methodist Church, 249 N. Piatt St., Bement, IL. Pastor Paul Unger will officiate. Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., on Tuesday, November 14, 2017, also at the Bement United Methodist Church, Bement, IL. Burial with military rites by the Albert Parker American Legion Post #620, will be in the Bement Township Cemetery, Bement. Memorial contributions can be made to the Albert Parker American Legion Post #620, Bement, Faith in Action, Bement United Methodist Church or Charity of the Donors Choice.

Steve was born on September 11, 1950, in Urbana, IL., son of Robert and Martha Turney Postlewait.

He was raised on the family farm, graduated from Bement High School in 1968 and Bradley University in 1972. While at Bradley, he was a member of the ROTC, including Color Guard, and Alpha Kappa Psi fraternity. He was commissioned 2nd lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force and was stationed at Dyess Air Force Base, Abilene, TX., and Yokota Air Force Base, Tokyo, Japan. After serving, Steve worked as a certified public accountant for 36 years; he retired from ADM in July 2012. He enjoyed farming and was a member of the 1988 class of the Illinois Agricultural Leadership Foundation traveling to Brazil and Napa Valley California.

Steve was a member of the Bement Masonic Lodge #365 A.F. & A.M., 1981 past commander and member of the Albert Parker American Legion Post #620, and a lifetime member of the Bement United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Postlewait. Surviving are his wife, Mary Sue Postlewait of Bement, IL., son, Robert Postlewait of Monticello, son, Russell Postlewait of Nashville, TN., step-daughter; Kara Peterka of Mahomet, step-son; Eric (Ericka) Conley of Cerro Gordo, his mother; Martha Postlewait of Bement, two grandsons; Everett and Eli Postlewait of Monticello, 2 step-grandchildren; Ethan Peterka and Makenna Peterka, sister; Jane (John) Corradetti of New Lenox, brother; Sam (Sue) Postlewait of Mt. Zion.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Kelly, Evelyn and Jeni for their excellent care, compassion, and kindness to Steve during his illness.
