SHELBYVILLE — James H. Ralston, 82, of Shelbyville, died 5:50 a.m. Sunday (June 30, 2013) in Shelbyville Manor. Graveside services will be 11:30 a.m. Tuesday in the Camfield Cemetery, Sullivan with Pastor Richard Hargrave officiating. Memorials are suggested to Shelby Memorial Hospital Home Health Care. James was born August 17, 1930 in Paris, Illinois the son of Ethan and Edith Hunt Ralston. James married Nancy Louise Bruce on January 12, 1969 in Bloomington, Illinois. Together they had managed Index Variety stores in Illinois and Indiana for twenty five years and then owned Ralston Variety Store in Watseka for ten years. After retirement they contracted with the Army Corps of Engineers as a gate attendant for fourteen years. He was a member of the Findlay Christian Church, was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War and had been a member of the Watseka American Legion Post # 23. Surviving are his wife Nancy of Shelbyville; sons, Steven (Diana) Ralston of Decatur, David (Ann) Ralston of Owensboro, Kentucky; stepsons, Danny (Patricia) Weaver of Fayettville, North Carolina, Ronnie (Sue) Weaver of Sullivan; daughters, Jennifer Kruger of South Bend, Indiana, Judith (Jack) Kercheval of Sullivan; stepdaughter, Jannie (Rodney) Wiley of Shelbyville; brothers, Richard Ralston of Oblong, John (Carolyn) Ralston of Marshall; fifteen grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
