EFFINGHAM — Neil Eugene Richars, age 79, of Effingham, IL died at on Friday, October 12, 2012 at St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

He was born on September 28, 1933 in Lucas Township, Effingham County, IL to Kenneth M. and Mona (Faeth) Richars. He married Dorothy Lee McBride on January 1, 1953 in Pocahontas, AR. Neil worked in a variety of marketing and management positions in the oil and chemical industry and was a technical consultant to the industry before his retirement.

Neil’s memberships included Flora Masonic Lodge #204, Effingham Masonic Lodge #149 where he was Past Master, was Past Master of Argenta Masonic Lodge #871, Past District Deputy Grand Master A.F. & A.M. of Illinois, Ainad Shrine of Belleville, member of Southern Illinois Valley AASR, Past President of American Society of Lubrication Engineers, and was Past President of Morton, IL Lions Club.

He is survived by his wife: Dorothy Richars of Effingham; children: Lee Ann (Steve) DeClerck of Pana, Janis (Alan) Miller of Bettendorf, IA, Tony (Judy) Richars of Flora, Mike (Ingrid) Richars of Parkland, FL, Andy Richars of Decatur; brother: Kenneth Duane Richars of Balwin, MO; along with 8 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Mona Richars, of Flora.

The funeral service for Neil Richars will be held at 11 AM on Monday, October 15, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Flora. Friends may call from 5-7:30 PM on Sunday at Frank & Bright Funeral Home and Masonic Rites will be conducted at 7:30 PM. An online guest book is available at www.frankandbright.com.
