HARRISTOWN — John Lee Roberts, 74, of Harristown died February 2nd at 7:50 P.M. in DMH with his family by his side.

Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday, February 7, 2013, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home. Visitation will be 4-7 P.M. Wednesday, February 6, at the funeral home. The family requests casual attire. Burial will be in Harristown Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Cancer Care Specialists of Central Illinois.

John was born June 6, 1938 in Lincoln, IL, the oldest son of Richard “Dick” and Margaret (Herron) Roberts. He married Lorraine Tuvell on December 21, 1956 in Warrensburg, IL. They just recently celebrated their 56th anniversary. John was raised on a farm and farmed with his dad until the early 70’s while raising his family and working the swing shift at PPG Industries. He retired in May 2000 from PPG after 42 years of service. John enjoyed fishing, watching the Bears, Cubs, and Illini.

Surviving are his wife Lorraine; daughter Brenda Hendricks and husband Lane of Decatur; sons Gary “Bones” Roberts of Harristown, Steve Roberts and fiancé’ Julie Anderson of Decatur; grandchildren Josh Hendricks, Tyler Hendricks and Haylee Roberts of Decatur, Cory Hendricks and wife Crystal of Niantic; great-grandchildren Lane Hendricks and his sister Kristin Wilber of Decatur, Chloe Reynolds of Niantic; brother Larry Roberts and wife Cheryl of Mt. Pulaski; sister-in-law Susan Roberts of Lincoln.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Rose (Wayne) Binkley, Jean (Art) Whitacre, brother Otto “Dub” Roberts and granddaughter Samantha Hendricks.

The family would like to thank Dr. Arnold, Dr. Velasco, and Dr. Yoon at the Cancer Care Center and the nursing staff on the 5th floor at DMH.
