Crews from six fire departments responded Saturday evening to a house fire on the west side of Decatur.

Gravel Pit Road between Cantrell Street and Westway Drive also was closed as crews were on the scene. The road has since been reopened. The American Red Cross was sent to help fire personnel, the Macon County Sheriff's Office said in a statement.

The department did not release additional information about the fire or the home involved Saturday night. The street is just west of South Wyckles Road and south of U.S. Route 36.

The Decatur, Harristown, Mount Zion, Niantic, South Wheatland and Warrensburg fire departments dispatched crews to the fire call, which was received at 6:30 p.m., the office said.
