ARGENTA — Argenta-Oreana High School will host a blood drive from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday in the school's gymnasium, 500 N. Main St., Argenta.

The American Red Cross is encouraging all eligible donors to give blood during September, which has been designated National Preparedness Month.

The organization said in a media release that several blood drives in the Southeast were canceled due to Hurricane Irma, and blood and platelet donations are needed to ensure a sufficient blood supply for hospitals throughout the country.  All blood types are needed.

Appointments for the Argenta-Oreana drive and any other donation opportunities can be made either by visiting redcrossblood.org, calling 1-800-733-2767 or by downloading the Blood Donor App.
