DECATUR — Yet another central air conditioner has been stolen in Decatur.

The theft of the $1,500 unit, reported Wednesday, is the third in as many weeks. This time, the unit was taken from outside a property in the 100 block of South 23rd Street between Aug. 25 and Wednesday morning.

Detective Sgt. Steve Carroll said the thefts could be the work of the same suspect or suspects. Scrap metal thieves have been known to target the air conditioners.

A central air conditioning unit valued at $2,600 was reported stolen Aug. 27 from the yard of a Decatur home in the in the 2500 block of East William Street. On Aug. 22, a unit valued at $3,800 was stolen from a home in the 2100 block of East Decatur Street.
