DECATUR — Decatur police are investigating two unrelated incidents of shots being fired Monday.

Detective Sgt. Steve Carroll said the first incident occurred around 5:15 p.m. in the 1500 block of North Union and West Division streets. Several reports of gunfire were called in.

Carroll said the reports spoke of four to five shots but only one shell casing was recovered. He said witness reports said the gunfire may have come from a blue, older model pickup with tinted windows.

In the second incident just after 8 p.m., police found a house in the 1700 block of East Johns Avenue had been hit by gunfire.

Carroll said 15 shell casings in .45 and .17 caliber were found in the roadway.

There were no reports of injuries and no one appeared to be living in the house that was hit.
