DECATUR — Police are investigating a Wednesday night armed robbery.

About 11:20 p.m., a 22-year-old Chatham man was walking toward the Circle K, 1685 S. Baltimore St., when a man about 30 years old approached him on the pretext of asking him a question.

When the victim responded, the robber “got mad,” pulled out what appeared to be a knife, and demanded his wallet, said Decatur police detective Sgt. Steve Carroll. He handed over his wallet and the robber fled.

He was described as a black male, about 5 feet, 8 inches tall, weighing 180 pounds, wearing a black zippered hooded sweatshirt with red Nike lettering.

Anyone with information is asked to call the police at (217) 424-2711 or CrimeStoppers at (217)423-8477 or visit www.decaturcrimestoppers.org.
