DECATUR -- A Decatur woman’s head was cut by flying glass Friday afternoon as two armed men took shots at each other in the street outside her home.

Sgt. Timothy Maxwell, speaking Sunday, said the 18-year-old woman was not hurt seriously in the incident which happened around 2:40 p.m. near the 1100 block of North Warren Street. “She had an abrasion to her forehead and left cornea,” said Maxwell.

He said it was not clear what broke the window glass as the woman stood on her front porch and she said she saw the gunmen shooting at each other. Maxwell said it appears debris caused by a bullet striking a neighbor’s home may have shattered the woman’s window.

Maxwell said officers recovered two shell casings and dug a spent bullet from one house on the street. “And at least four different houses had damage,” he added.
