DECATUR – A Decatur man is pleading not guilty to a charge of being an “armed habitual criminal” after prosecutors said he was involved in the shooting and wounding of another man.
The case of Javaris J. Milan, 25, came up in Macon County Circuit Court Tuesday for a pretrial hearing. It's alleged Milan and two other men were involved in a July 8 incident outside a gas station in the 2100 block of East Wood Street left a 27-year-old man with two bullet wounds in his left kneecap. Devoe D. Randall, 26, faces a charge of attempted murder and Jerrin J. Milan, 24, is charged with aggravated discharge of a firearm.
Javaris J. Milan is being held in the Macon County Jail and, on motion of his defense attorney, Karen Root, the case was for set a jury trial on Dec. 11.
