DECATUR — Police said a long distance Decatur truck driver who let an acquaintance stay at his home became the victim of identity theft with more than $400 charged on his debit card.

Detective Sgt. Chris Copeland said the theft was reported Tuesday after the 47-year-old’s male victim’s bank contacted him about fraudulent charges made in Decatur and Michigan.

Copeland said the 46-year-old acquaintance is from Michigan and is the suspect in the case.
