DECATUR — Dick Van Dyke Appliance World, located at 134 N. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, will undergo a complete remodeling that is expected to be completed by March 1, 2018.

In a news release Thursday, company President Dennis Rieken said the store will remain open during construction, and traffic will be routed to the south parking lot and south entrance of the building.

The $1 million remodel was funded by Prairie State Bank, and was designed Springfield-based Steckel-Parker Architects, Rieken said. Evans Construction Co. will be the projects primary contractors, while Niess Masonry, Polands Glass and the E.L. Pruitt Co. are among the project's sub-contractors.

"We love Decatur, especially downtown Decatur," Rieken said. "We are thrilled to have grown to the level that we can invest another million dollars into the upgrading of downtown and the Macon County economy."

The appliance retailer has operated at its North Martin Luther King Jr. Drive location since 1992.

When the remodel project is finished, Rieken said, the building's appearance will match other Appliance World locations in Springfield, Champaign and Bloomington. Rieken said new signage will be installed outside of the store, and its showroom will be completely redesigned.
