SHELBYVILLE — Shelby County Sheriff Don Koonce announced said he will seek a second term in office in 2018.
Koonce of Shelbyville was first elected in 2014 with a 100-day plan to upgrade services in the sheriff’s office.
“We hit the ground running and have been able to accomplish most of our goals,” the sheriff said.
New programs include a volunteer reserve force, technology upgrades for the department, county courthouse and corrections center and scheduling changes to increase deputies' presence throughout the county.
The sheriff’s office also has a website with safety information, www.scso87.org.
