After 99 days as Millikin University’s interim president, Patrick White can remove the word “interim” from his job title.
Van Dukeman, chairman of Millikin’s Board of Trustees announced today that White, 64, is the board’s choice to become the institution’s 15th president, effective immediately.
“He’s never acted like an interim president and quickly proved himself an invaluable leader on our campus,” Dukeman said in his announcement. “We are confident that his expertise and experience in private higher education will serve him well.”
Prior to starting work in Decatur July 1, White served seven years as president of Wabash College in Crawfordsville, Ind.
A native of Dixon, Ill., White said in a prepared statement he believes in Millikin’s commitment to performance learning and is honored to have been chosen as president.
White succeeds Harold Jeffcoat, who retired as the university’s president in January after 21 months in office.
