MOUNT ZION -- A serial car and garage burglar who allegedly admits to committing more than 100 crimes in the Mount Zion and Decatur area is now behind bars.

The 23-year-old male suspect was arrested about 2 a.m. Saturday after Macon County Sheriff’s deputies pulled his pickup over in Decatur and he fled on foot.

During questioning, sworn police statements say he confessed to “at least” 100 burglaries from cars and attached garages and had particularly targeted Mount Zion, choosing vehicles and garages he found unlocked.

He now faces multiple charges of burglary from motor vehicles and residential burglary charges and is being held in the Macon County Jail without bond.
