DECATUR — Eleven days after he was released from prison for stabbing and punching a 15-year-old girl in 2010, Kyle A. Snyder was arrested for impregnating a 16-year-old girl shortly before he began his prison sentence.
Snyder, 23, was arrested Tuesday on a felony charge of aggravated criminal sexual abuse after the victim told police she became pregnant in February 2011 by Snyder and had the baby nine months later.
The victim told police she was sexually active exclusively with Snyder before she became pregnant.
When Snyder was taken into custody Tuesday, he admitted that he was “sexually involved” with the victim on several occasions prior to his prison sentence and “admitted that he fathered their child,” according to an affidavit by Decatur police detective Brad Allen.
Snyder was booked into the Macon County Jail on Tuesday. His bond was set Wednesday in circuit court at $30,000.
In his prior case, Snyder pleaded guilty to aggravated battery May 31, 2011, and was sentenced to four years in the Illinois Department of Corrections.
Snyder was arrested Nov. 21, 2010, for cutting the hand and abdomen of a 15-year-old girl with a small knife. He also punched the teen girl in the head with his fist. Decatur police officers reported that they observed a puncture wound on the girl’s abdomen and small cuts on her right hand.
He was also charged with choking and shoving another woman. The incident occurred at Snyder’s home on the city’s south side.
At the time of his arrest, Snyder was free on bond in a previous assault case.
On Dec. 10, 2010, Snyder posted bond in the aggravated battery case and was released from jail. During the time he was free on bond, he allegedly had sex with the 16-year-old girl. On March 16, 2011, Snyder failed to appear in court for a pretrial hearing, and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
He was arrested six days later and held in jail until he pleaded guilty two-and-a-half months later. He was then sent to prison, where he remained until Feb. 15, 2013.
