Here we go again, Ash Ave. and Route 51, or as some would say, “It’s deja vu all over again.” Seems to be a never ending cycle. Both sides of this argument have merit; a nice attractive neighborhood close to a major artery in and out of the city and a high traffic corner sitting prime for retail development that could bring much needed tax dollars to the city. For now, at least, it looks like the neighborhood is winning.
Now, I’m not siding one way or another here, I just thought I’d throw out an idea. Preface this with the knowledge that I am no real estate or law expert. Nevertheless, if the folks in the neighborhood really want to preserve what they have, how about forming a home owners association, raise the money to purchase the property and then preserve it as a grassy buffer between the neighborhood and future developers?
Just a thought.
