It is with gratitude for the many kindnesses and caring attitudes of the staff of the fourth floor of Decatur Memorial Hospital that I write this letter to you. It is often easy to forget what an asset it is for a community to have a hospital nearby. My family and I cannot express adequately how much the kind and loving care my father received is appreciated. When he chose to discontinue treatment after a long struggle with pneumonia, the nursing staff were always attentive to his comfort and the comfort of his family. It would be easy to think that it was just part of the job for these wonderful people, but I feel they went above and beyond what is normally thought to be good practice and showed the best of caring and compassion to all of us.
