In reading the editorial about the beautification effort in Decatur, I feel a No. 1 goal is to be rid of condemned houses along main thoroughfares. One glaring example is the unsightly one on Monroe, just north of Grand Street. The porch roof is mostly dangling, held up by one support post. It has been this way for quite some time. Hopefully, with the first hint of warmer weather, it will be gone.
The continual problem of litter is another eyesore in Decatur. Hopefully, come spring there will be multiple days of organized cleanup. I'll be there.
