Obituaries may be submitted at Herald-Review.com/place_an_ad/obituaries. Deadline is 1 p.m. every day.
We will accept obituaries submitted by family members; however, those obituaries will not be published until we can speak to the funeral home handling the arrangements. Absolutely no obituary will be published without confirmation from an official source.
All obituaries must be submitted no later than 1 p.m. for next-day publication. The obituary desk is open from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. daily. Call (217) 421-7969. The news room fax number is (217) 421-7965.
Photos can be submitted with custom, expanded and basic obituaries. Submitted photos may be any size, as long the individual’s face is at least 3/4 inch in width. Digital photos must be saved as a JPEG. If a photo is out of focus, fuzzy, or of inferior quality, it will not be published. Only head and shoulder shots of the deceased will be used. We will run up to two photos with an obituary if the family desires - generally a younger photo and an older photo.
If photos are brought into our office, we advise you do not send proofs, framed photos or any photo that is irreplaceable. You may pick up your photo at the Herald & Review the day after it has been published or the funeral home may pick it up for you. Submitted photos will not be returned unless they are accompanied by a self-addressed, stamped envelope.
The obituary desk is open from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. daily.
