DECATUR - Richland Community College is pleased to announce that Marcus Brown will serve in the position of interim vice president of Student and Academic Services.

Marcus joined Richland in September 1995 as a school relations specialist. Since that time he has served as Transfer Center coordinator, counselor/assistant professor, director of counseling and career services, assistant to the vice president of student and academic services and currently as dean of enrollment services.

He regularly conducts workshops or makes presentations in the areas of customer service, diversity, prevention, race, class, gender and other "isms." He is a nationally certified counselor and received faculty ranked tenure in 2003.

In addition to serving on a variety of college committees, Marcus has been active in several community-based organizations, including service as first vice president of the Decatur NAACP Chapter, chairman of the Decatur Human Relations Commission, member of the Old King's Orchard Board and Opus 24.

Marcus received his bachelor's degree in psychology from Quincy University and his master's degree in counseling psychology from the University of Connecticut. He will complete his master's of business administration in May from Millikin University.
