NORMAL — Gabe Megginson, a four-star offensive line recruit out of Jacksonville High School in 2015, has confirmed he will transfer from the University of Illinois to Illinois State.

The 6-foot-5, 305-pound Megginson has seen action in 22 games the past two seasons for the Illini and started 11. He has played both guard and tackle.

Megginson will enroll at ISU in January and have two years of eligibility with the Redbirds.

"I picked ISU because I know they are a great program consistently," Megginson said Sunday. "Coach (Brock) Spack knows what he is doing there. I have known Coach for awhile, and I know he is a fair, honest coach who wants the best for his players.

"I feel it's the right fit for me academically and football wise, and I cannot wait to get there and continue what I love to do around a great culture."

Megginson was rated the No. 122 overall player in the national rankings of Scout.com out of high school.

He was the consensus top-rated offensive lineman in Illinois' class of 2015. Scout.com listed Megginson as the No. 12 offensive lineman in the nation and Rivals.com ranked him at No. 18 among linemen.
