DECATUR — Four Millikin football players were honored by the CCIW Tuesday with their selection to the 2017 All-Conference Team.
Sophomore wide receiver Jordan Smith was named to the CCIW All-Conference First Team. Big Blue junior quarterback Nicco Stepina, junior wide receiver Gerald Perry and senior center Nick Perry were selected to the All-Conference Second Team.
Smith, of Shelbyville, led the CCIW in receiving yards per game, averaging 81.8. Smith led Millikin with 43 catches for 818 yards and a school record 13 touchdowns.
Stepina, a Casey-Westfield grad, was the top quarterback in both passing yards per game and total offense. Overall, he averaged 278.5 yards passing per game and 307 yards of total offense. Stepina set 10 new Millikin school records including most passing yards in a season (2,785), touchdown passes in a season (29), passing yards in career (6,855) and touchdown passes in a career (63).
Gerald Perry led the conference in receiving yards per game in CCIW games averaging 84.2 yards per game. Overall, he had 38 catches for 612 yards and six touchdowns.
Nick Perry anchored a Millikin offensive line that helped the Big Blue set a new school record for passing yards in a season with 2,842. He helped block Millikin rushers to 1,350 rushing yards on the season.
