Each year, May 6-12 is recognized nationally as National Nurses Week. The purpose of National Nurses Week is to raise public awareness of the value of nursing and to help educate the public about the vital roles registered nurses play in meeting the health care needs of our community.
We want to do something special during Nurses Week to thank all of the nurses that put on their scrubs every day and strive to make the world a better place. So the team at St. Mary’s has put together a great list of events and gifts for our nurses including raffles, social events and awards to be given throughout the week.
Every day, I am reminded by my colleagues how to practice the HSHS core values of respect, care, competence and joy. From the nurses on the floors and procedural areas, to the education and leadership team, every nurse I interact with represents those values. I am thankful that I get to work with such dedicated, compassionate nurses here at St. Mary’s.
Thank you for all that you do to make this world a happier and healthier place.
Michelle Oliver, RN, chief nursing officer, HSHS St. Mary’s Hospital
