NIANTIC — EPL Bio Analytical Services, a Harristown-based agricultural science analytics laboratory, has been acquired by the global product and safety company Tentamus Group.

Tentamus, based in Berlin, tests, audits and consults on products "involving the human body" and is represented in over 50 locations worldwide, the news release said. The company said in a statement that acquiring EPL allows it to expand its global reach.

"We are absolutely thrilled to be a part of the Tentamus Group, which will give us the chance to further develop and strengthen our ability to provide excellent testing services, yet preserve a personalized service to our customers," said EPL Chief Executive Officer Robin King.

Ryan McCrady, president of the Economic Development Corporation of Decatur and Macon County, said the acquisition will grow Decatur's global presence.

"(Tentamus') industry experience, resources and connections will bring great value to the Decatur economy," he said in a statement.
