Operation Warm Fuzzy was born on the campus of Millikin University near the beginning of the new millennium. A group of students were tasked to create a charitable organization and then put it into action. Operation Warm Fuzzy was conceived to help less fortunate children in need of something to help comfort them during their trying times. Over the years, the idea continued through friends and family of the original group members. The concept evolved to specifically help children that are hospitalized in the two Decatur hospitals. Over the years Operation Warm Fuzzy has informally contributed, toys, games, clothing, and movies to the pediatric units at both hospitals.
In 2016, one of the original group members, Tanya Childs, unexpectedly passed away. Tanya served the vast majority of her adult life working in hospitals and caring for others. When people asked to contribute or make a donation in her name, Operation Warm Fuzzy was officially formed. This idea that she helped create well over a decade ago will now live on in her name and with her loving nature at its core.
The mission for Operation Warm Fuzzy is very simple: help the children in local hospitals directly, or help the hospitals make their stay better.
100% of all items or funds collected will be passed on to those in need. Operation Warm Fuzzy would like to thank those for helping to make the lives of others and for continuing to help the memory of Tanya live on through generosity and love of others.
