SULLIVAN — Little Theatre on the Square directors and producers appreciate their stage and theater and want others to know all about it.
“What is our best asset but our space?” said John Stephens, Little Theatre’s executive director and producer.
For this year’s fundraiser, the directors will host "Big Night at The Little Theatre” May 31, in the theater.
Each year Little Theatre has hosted an opening gala at another location with extravagant decor.
“They felt stuffy and formal,” Stephens said. “That’s not us.”
According to Stephens, this year’s casual fundraiser is designed for guests to have fun and a good time backstage and throughout the theater. “And introduce some of the cast,” he said.
Along with music, desserts and drinks, the event will have a sneak peak of the season’s first show “The Night the Music Lived,” scheduled for June 5 through 16.
Guests can also participate in a live auction which include a New York trip, Cardinal baseball game tickets, VIP lounge parties opportunities, as a well as other donated items.
With each ticket, guest have the opportunity to take part in a reverse raffle, in which the last number pulled at the end of the evening wins $1,000. Tickets drawn throughout the night will win other prizes. Guests will have other opportunities for a chance to win the grand prize.
Those attending will also have the opportunity to purchase walk-on roles in a show during the season. For $500, 30 wannabe actors will see a show, attend a rehearsal, be sized for a costume, and perform on stage during a second showing with the professional actors.
The event will also have games such as a wine pull.
“They are nice bottles of wine,” Stephens said. “All of the bottles are covered up so you don’t know what you are getting. There are at least $15, but many are much more.”
