ARTHUR -- In the championship game of the Knights Holiday Classic, both teams struggled to find the basket early and often.

Tri-County led St. Teresa 9-4 after the opening quarter and went on to win the low-scoring game, 29-22, on Wednesday.

St. Teresa took their first lead of the game late in the second quarter only to give up a last second two-point basket to Tri-County junior Shayne Smith, who went on to win the tournament MVP.

The score was tied up at 20 heading into the final quarter, but Tri-County came out and took the title by outscoring the Bulldogs 9-2.

Leading the Bulldogs in scoring was Vanessa Nutakor, who was named to the all-tournament team and scored 9 points in the final.

Arthur-Lovington-Atwood-Hammond had two players on the all-tournament team, Megan Fifer and Hannah Wallen, and Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg’s Megan Schlechte also was chosen.
