VANDALIA -- Teutopolis pitcher Louis Niemerg stayed perfect this season, limiting Belleville Althoff to one run on five hits in the Wooden Shoes' 4-1 win in the Class 2A Vandalia Sectional finals on Monday.
The sectional was the sixth straight for T-Town (30-5-1). A win against DuQuoin tonight at the Sauget Super-sectional will give the Shoes their fourth trip to state in six years.
Niemerg improved to 10-0, shutting Althoff out until a solo home run by Ben Hankammer in the seventh.
"He did a nice job on the mound like he's done all season," Teutopolis coach Justin Fleener said. "We kept the ball down, threw well and really controlled the game from the mound."
The Shoes got two-run home runs from Jordan Thoele and Austin Hartke to fuel the offense.
"We had quality at-bats and played solid defense," Fleener said.

ODIN -- Wayne City scored in the top of the ninth to break a scoreless tie and Oblong couldn't solve Indians pitcher Claire Miller.
Miller allowed just one hit and struck out 20. Emily Lockhart nearly matched her, but couldn't keep Wayne City from winning its first sectional title in school history.
"Wayne City is a quality ball club and we're not ashamed of what happened tonight," Oblong coach Galen Slover said. "We didn't have an easy game in the postseason. We faced some really good teams and went toe-to-toe with all of them and came out on the right side in ball but one."
Oblong finished its season 17-8.
