TUSCOLA — Madeline Meinhold silenced Cerro Gordo Thursday.
She struck out nine and allowed just one hit in a 12-0 shutout against Cerro Gordo.
“Maddie Meinhold was solid in her first outing of the year on the mound for us,” Tuscola coach Leonard Sementi said. “She changed speeds in the last few innings to keep them off-balance.”
The Warriors accumulated 12 hits, led by Peyton Shelmadine with three hits and six RBIs. Abbey Walsh also provided a double and triple.
“The bottom of the order came through and set the table for Shelmadine to drive in runs out of the two spot,” Sementi said.

Central A&M 11, Heyworth 3
ASSUMPTION — Zach Bugg and Central A&M debuted the season with a win.
The senior pitcher struck out four batters and allowed two earned runs in two innings.
Central A&M provided offensive support with seven hits, led by Dillon Reed with a home run.
“This was a good first game for us,” Central A&M coach Chad Carroll said. “Our pitchers threw strikes. They worked low in the zone and got a ton of groundballs. None of our outs came on fly ball outs. Our defense was solid.”
