DECATUR -- Paul R. Crutchfield, Sr. departed this life on July 18, 2015 at St. John’s Hospital, Springfield, Illinois. He was born on February 26, 1922 in Jacksonville, Illinois the son of William and Elizabeth Crutchfield.
He married Nelzina Humbles on December 19, 1945. He worked as a printer at Huston Patterson for 35 years where he retired in 1988. He was a member of the New Salem Baptist Church. He also was a lifetime member of the YMCA, member of the NAACP, member of the Mueller Park Parent Association and volunteered at Homework Hangout.
He leaves to cherish his loving memories: his wife Nelzina Crutchfield of Decatur, Illinois; sons, Paul Raymond Crutchfield, Jr. and wife Diane of Chicago, Illinois, Zachary Crutchfield of Greensboro, North Carolina, William Crutchfield of Phoenix, Arizona; daughters, Sheila Tyus and husband, Pastor Mark of Decatur ,Illinois and Lisa Miner of Jackson, Mississippi, 8 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Paul was preceded in death his parents, sisters: Florence Mosley, Ada Dixon, Lorene Dixon; brothers: William Crutchfield, Stuart Crutchfield and Earl Crutchfield.
Services celebrating his life will be held 12:00 Noon Saturday, July 25, 2015 at New Salem Baptist Church (352 West Wood St.) with Rev. John T. Banks, Officiating. Visitation one hour before service.
