She was born in Decatur, Illinois on June 14, 1951, the only child of Charles Wendell (Bill) and Mary Ann (Spangler) White.
She was preceded in death by her son J J Fishman in 2011, both of her parents, Bill and Mary Ann White, and her Aunt Vera (Spangler) and Uncle EB Lewis. She is survived by her Husband, J R Fishman and Daughter Jamie Rose Fishman, in Boca Raton, Florida; her Aunt Jean (Spangler) Goretzke of Decatur, IL; Cousins: Sally (Lewis) and Rick Turner, Texas; Sue (Lewis) and Sumner Dean, New Mexico; Tom Lewis, Texas; Nancy (Goretzke) and Erik Brechnitz, Decatur, IL; and Bill and Linda Goretzke, South Carolina.
She graduated from SDHS in 1969 with the well-earned honor of Best Dressed. She attended both the University of Kentucky and the University of Tennessee in their Fashion and Interior Design programs.
Liz was a woman of amazing talents. She was considered The Queen of Party and Event Planning and was a very magical hostess. Her SDHS friends attest to having shared many good times during Liz’s years in Decatur. She was blessed with an artistic flair that defined her personal style and contributed to a successful career in Retail Fashion as well as Interior Design and Decor. She excelled in her retail management job at Van Law’s in Decatur, Illinois and subsequently at Fishman’s in Fort Wayne, Indiana after she relocated there to start a family with her husband, J R Fishman. After moving the family to Boca Raton, Florida in 1990, she flourished in her successful Interior Design business, Design Matters.
Liz maintained warm and close relationships with her many friends and family in all three communities in which she primarily resided over the years. All will miss sharing lively conversations with her and listening to her outspoken opinions on every subject.
She was, without a doubt, the Number One Hit Single of all her friends’ and family’s songs of life memories. She will be greatly missed by many. May she rest in deserved peace.
