SULLIVAN -- Sheila M. Harshman, 82, of Sullivan went home to be with her Savior at 8:45 a.m. Thursday, January 14, 2016 in her residence after a courageous and graceful battle with cancer. 

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Sunday at the Elim Springs Church of Jesus Christ with Felix Hagerman and Vanessa Patient officiating. Burial will be in the Greenhill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Saturday at the Elim Springs Church of Jesus Christ. Memorials are suggested to the Mayo Clinic Foundation or the Elim Springs Church of Jesus Christ. Sheila was born to the late Donald and Eloise Moore at Sullivan, Illinois on April 22, 1933. She graduated from Sullivan High School in 1951, and worked in local businesses. She married Ron Harshman on June 22, 1957 at Sullivan. They were blessed with two daughters, Jane and Julie.

Sheila spent her whole life a dedicated member of the Elim Springs Church of Jesus Christ. She fulfilled her calling to serve others in her family, church and community. In 1989 she founded the Proto-Tykes Childcare Center to serve the families of Agri-Fab and Hydro-Gear employees. Because of her happy childhood, she had a deep desire to provide the same happiness to others, and was able to do so for her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and hundreds of others through the Childcare Center. She also had been a member of the Okaw Valley Academic Foundation and the Sarah Bush Lincoln Women Connected Group. In addition she was an integral part of the fundraising efforts for the Moultrie County Chapter of the American Cancer Society and Relay for Life for 13 years. 

She is survived by her husband Ron Harshman; daughters Jane (Randy) Inman and Julie (Mike) Cohan, both of Sullivan; grandchildren Natalie (Sean) Harshman, Vanessa (Deacon) Patient, Brooks (Susie) Inman, Ben (Amy) Cohan, Ryne Inman and Samantha Inman, as well as eight great-grandchildren; sisters Beverly Perrine and Marsha Moore; sister-in-law Marianne Moore, all of Sullivan. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Judy Moore and brother Sharon Moore.
