DECATUR -- Tony Bradford Hess, 58, of Lovington, Illinois formerly of Decatur departed this life on Saturday, February 11, 2017 at his residence.
Tony “Diamond Dawg” as he was affectionately called was born on April 2, 1958 in Brownsville, TN the son of Ben Bradford and Henry Mae (Currie) Hess. He moved to Decatur in 1967 and was a member of the Church of the Living God P.G. T. Temple #1 under the leadership of Bishop Herbert Dickerson. He graduated from Douglass MacArthur High School where he played Varsity Football and was an All American Wrestler.
Tony was employed by Northfolk and Southern as a train conductor for 20 years. He enjoyed going to the YMCA, barbequing and spending time with family and friends.
On February 11, 2006 he united in Holy Matrimony to Margo Broutin they spent 11 loving years together.
Tony leaves to forever treasure his memories: his loving wife, Margo Hess of Lovington; children: Terrance Lamont (Charlotte) Hess of Landon, MS, Tavia LaShae (Raymon Jones)Hess of Brandon, MS, Pastor Tikela Latrice (Stacy) Hess-Wheeler of Conyers, GA, Tiara Lynette (Lee) Shumpert, Kimoni Hassan Hess, Tony Bradford (Deidra Hill)Hess II all of Decatur, Sheldon Alan (Courtney Rahn) Gee of Bourbon, IL, Aaron “A.J. ( Brionna Wilson) Gee of Rantoul, IL; brothers, Robert (Madeline) Hess , Tim (Louverna) Hess, Leon Hess all of Decatur and Christopher Hess of New Orleans, LA; sisters, Dahlia Faye Frost and Glenda Ann Hess of Brownsville, TN and Mae Yavonne Hess of Decatur; sister-in-law, Gloria Hess of Decatur; one uncle; seven aunts; mother and father-in law, Richard and Marjorie Broutin of Lovington; brother –in-law, Richard “Gene” (Tina Proctor) Broutin of Lovington, IL, 23 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Terimous Lavelle Hess, two brothers, Eugene Hess and John “Kooky” Hess.
