CHESTNUT -- Dallas L. Knoy, age 97, passed away on May 24th 2018 at the Vonderleith Nursing Home.
Dallas was born in Logan County and married to Corlynn L Baldwin for 67 years.
He was proceeded in death by his wife, parents, a brother Robert and his sister Betty.
He is survived by his four children, Dan (Miriam) Knoy of Danvers IL, Roger (Sheri) Knoy of Clinton IL, Rhonda (Jay) Mattern of Mt. Pulaski IL and Sandy (Tony) Schlosser of Clinton IL. Also surviving are ten grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Dallas was a proud veteran of World War II, serving in the Army Air Corps while stationed at a base near Nome, Alaska. Dallas was a life-long resident of Chestnut IL, a member of the American Legion and enjoyed saluting the flag every day. He was a Legacy member of the Chestnut Mens club and also served with the Chestnut Volunteer Fire Dept. He was a long-time member of the Clinton Assembly of God Church in Clinton IL.
Dallas worked and retired from Decatur Caterpillar. He loved getting together with his family and friends, especially if there was a fish fry involved. An avid fisherman all of his life, he was a mentor to many aspiring fishermen and a self-proclaimed expert in the art of Crappie fishing.
Funeral service will be held May 29, 2018 at the Clinton Assembly of God Church at 11:00 AM with visitation from 9 AM to 11 AM prior to the funeral service. Dallas was known and loved by his family and friends and will be greatly missed by all. Memorials can be made out to the Mt Pulaski American Legion and Leader Dogs for the Blind.
