DECATUR -- Carl E. Morrison, 85, of Decatur, passed away Saturday, December 2, 2017 at Life’s Journey Senior Living in Taylorville with his family by his side.
Carl was born January 11, 1932 in Decatur, Illinois, the son of C. Gilbert “Gib” and Zola (Nicoson) Morrison. He graduated from Decatur High School in 1950. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Carl worked at ADM from 1952-1964 and then as a pattern maker at Wagner Castings Company from 1964-1991. He was a member of Bethlehem Presbyterian Church. Carl enjoyed going on road trips with his family, photography, fishing, walking, and reading. He married Helen K. Rodgers on October 7, 1961.
Carl leaves behind his wife Helen, daughter Teresa K. Morrison of San Leandro, California, sons John D. Morrison of Irvine, California, and Steven G. and Craig E. Morrison both of Decatur, grandchildren Gianna and Christian Morrison of Irvine, California, and many nieces and nephews.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents, sister Margie Dills, and brother Wilbur Morrison.
The family would like to thank the staff at Life’s Journey Memory Care of Taylorville for their loving care of Carl during the last few months.
Services to celebrate Carl’s life will be 11:00 AM Saturday, December 9, 2017 at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the services. Burial will be at Friends Creek Cemetery in Argenta. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to Life’s Journey Memory Care or to Bethlehem Presbyterian Church.
