DECATUR -- William C. Spent Jr., 74, of Oreana, passed away Monday, October 9, 2017 in his home with his family by his side.
Bill was born December 3, 1942 in Decatur, Illinois the son of William C. and Louisa (Lawton) Spent Sr. He was employed as a machinist with the Wabash Railroad and Norfolk & Southern Railroad. Bill was a member of Garver Brick United Methodist Church. In his younger years he was a member of Trail Blazers Riding Club where enjoyed riding and showing his horse Star. Bill and Donna owned & operated the Pure Country Club in Sullivan, Illinois in the mid 90’s and Riverview Stables in Oreana and own & operate Spent Saddlery & Western Wear in Oreana. He enjoyed keeping up with world affairs and discussing them with his good friend Tom Wilson. Bill married Donna Browning February 14, 1964. They shared over fifty-three years together.
Bill leaves behind his wife Donna, sons David W. Spent and Bradley K. (Candi) Spent, and grandchildren Ashley Spent, Madison Spent, Will (Julie) Spent Jr., and Dylan Spent.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, brother Michael Spent, and son William Phillip Spent Sr.,

Services to celebrate Bill’s life will be 11:00 AM Monday, October 16, 2017 at Moran & Goebel Funeral Home with Pastor Don Long officiating. Visitation will be from 2-4 PM Sunday, October 15, 2017 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Union Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Garver Brick United Methodist Church.
