OREANA -- Darrel Lee Wilber 70, of Doniphan, MO formerly of Oreana, IL passed away at 9:08 p.m., Wednesday, November 8, 2017, in the Current River Nursing Center.
A service to honor Darrel’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, November 16, 2017, in the Oreana Baptist Church. The family will receive friends Thursday morning at 10:00 a.m. until service time. Burial will be in Camp Butler National Cemetery, with military honors provided by the Macon County Honor Guard and the US Army Honor’s Team. Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home, Mt. Darrel was born August 26, 1947, in Decatur, IL the son of William Glenn and Julia Geraldine (Conway) Wilber Sr. He served in the US Army and was a Vietnam War veteran and was a recipient of the Purple Heart Award. He formerly worked as a draftsman, an inventor, and with wood and carpentry trades.
Surviving are his brothers: William “Bill” Wilber (Pat) of O’Fallon, MO, and Tom Wilber of Decatur; sisters: Betty Wilber of St. Louis, MO and Sally Williams (Larry) of St. Joseph, MO; many nieces and nephews also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his infant daughter.
