DECATUR — The Macon County Health Department has closed Mi Pueblito, a Mexican restaurant at 1607 W. King St. in Decatur.

Phone calls made to the restaurant on Friday were unanswered.

According to the inspection report, violations include temperatures of various coolers categorized in the danger zone, observation of cooks preparing food with bare hands, raw shrimp was stored above beef and tomatoes, and the back door was propped open allowing pests to enter.

“Due to imminent health risks, location is to remain closed until necessary repairs are made to cold holding units,” the inspection stated.

The inspection is detailed in the health department’s review. “We want to make it as succinct as possible,” said Brian Wood, assistant director of Macon County Health Department’s Environmental Health.

A follow-up inspection will be conducted in 30 days.
