DECATUR -- At 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, the Macon County Sheriff’s Office received a call regarding a traffic crash with injuries at Illinois 105 (William Street Road) and Prairie View Road.
Upon the arrival, deputies determined that a pickup truck was northbound on Prairie View Road and failed to stop at the stop sign. Upon entering the intersection, the truck was struck by an eastbound car. Both vehicles traveled in a northeasterly direction after the collision, struck a large bolder at a residence at the northeast corner of the intersection and came to rest.
The driver of the truck was extricated and taken to St. Mary’s Hospital. The driver was alert and talking, but the extent of the injuries is not known.
The driver of the car was also taken to St. Mary’s Hospital. Preliminary reports indicated that driver had a possible broken leg, but the extent of any other injuries is unknown.
The sheriff's office did not identify the accident victims. Prairie View Road was closed while crews removed the vehicles from the crash site.
Assisting at the scene was the Long Creek Fire Department and Decatur Ambulance Service.
